Mathias and Lukas sat silently together, staring up at the crystal clear night sky. Stars, nebulae, galaxies, everything surrounded the round, white, crater-covered moon. Their brothers were back at camp, fast asleep. The two Scandinavians had snuck off to be alone. Lukas sighed as he leant gently on Mathias's shoulder, his eyes beginning to grow heavy. "Tired already, Lukas?" Mathias asked, flashing a grin. Lukas frowned and crossed his arms.
"Of course not!" He said childishly. He let out a small "humph" as he uncrossed his arms. Both boys suddenly froze, hearing two sets of pounding footsteps behind them. Mathias quickly grabbed his homemade spear , and Lukas slowly took out his bow, quickly notching an arrow. The two blondes glanced at each other, both just as confused as the other.
Two taller men emerged from the forest, entering the clearing. One had chin-length blonde hair, deep blue eyes, and a large hammer that hung by his side. The other, who was taller and scrawnier, had raven-black hair past his neck, forest green eyes, pale skin and a staff strapped to his back.
Both the Dane and the Norwegian glanced at from the two men, to one another, and back to the men. Lukas finally sopoke up. "Who are you two...?" He asked, aiming his arrow at the blonde one.
The blonde let out a hearty laugh, throwing his head back. "Why, I am Thor Odinson, of Asgard!" He cried proudly, placing his hands on his hips. The taller one nodded at Lukas and Mathias, giving a small smile.
"And I am Loki Laufeyson, of Asgard." Lukas froze as he lowered the bow. Thor? Loki? Asgard? Those were just stories...but Thor and other Asgardians did like to visit Midgard sometimes...so everything made sense. And it seemed Mathias had been thinking the same thing.
"Oh, cool, I've always wanted to meet Thor!" The Dane laughed, dropping his make-shift spear. He stood and ran over to the blonde, Thor, a wide smile plastered to his face.
"Mathias, be more careful..." Lukas said worriedly, concern lacing his tone. Loki, still smiling, motioned for Lukas to approach him. But Loki was the god of mischief, and Lukas was very wary of tricksters, because Mathias was one. But...the Norwegian obliged to the god's wish, and he stood, proceeding towards the raven-haired man. "What are you two doing in Midgard?" Lukas asked cautiously. Thor chuckled, smiling.
"We've been coming to Midgard for a while now," He explained, his hands falling from his hips. Lukas nodded and set his bow on the ground. Loki tilted his head slightly.
"What are you names? He asked. Lukas tilted his head as well.
"I'm Lukas Bon--" Mathias stopped him.
"I am Mathias Køhler!" He said, smiling and waving his arm.
"--devik..." Lukas finished, flaring discreetly at Mathias. Loki smiled.
"Nice to meet you two..." He said, bowing slightly. Lukas and Mathias mimicked him, bowing as well.
Later that night, after Mathias and Thor had gone hunting and Loki and Lukas had been practicing magic, both Thor and Loki stood. "We must go now, Midgardians, it was a pleasure." Thor said, smiling. Mathias frowned.
"B-But...!" He protested, tears filling his eyes. Then Thor handed him an ax that was almost twice Mathias's height. His smile returned immediately.
"For you, Mathias, an ax forged in the fires of Asgard itself!" He exclaimed proudly. Loki gently handed Lukas a book.
"My favourite spellbook, treasure it, Lukas." He gave the Norwegian a small wink. Lukas smiled brightly, nodding.
